活动简介：

欢迎参加我们的文艺复兴装饰字母创作工作坊，一同探索古老手稿艺术的魅力！
“手稿”一词源自拉丁词汇“manus”（手）和“scriptus”（书写），意为手写文本。“彩绘手稿”中的“illumination”则源于拉丁语“illuminare”（照亮），指的是书籍中的装饰性元素，通常使用金银箔和颜料进行点缀，特别是在章节开头的华丽首字母、部分文字、边框设计和插画上。书页常由小牛皮、绵羊皮或山羊皮制成。

白藤装饰字母风格

在为期四小时的工作坊中，我们将制作一种名为白藤装饰字母（White Vine）的艺术作品。这种风格在15世纪初期的佛罗伦萨装饰艺术家中颇为流行，被称为Bianchi Girari。
其特点是白色缠绕的藤蔓，在蓝色或其他鲜艳背景的衬托下显得格外精致。藤蔓本身通常保持未上色状态，呈现出羊皮纸的自然色泽。这种设计灵感源于罗马式彩绘手稿（11至12世纪），其中花卉图案尤为突出。该风格多用于古典文学和人文主义书籍的装饰，而非宗教书籍。

工作坊亮点：

动手体验： 学习如何将装饰字母图案转移到羊皮纸上，并使用23克拉金箔进行平面镀金。
精美绘制： 通过七种预调颜料进行上色，这些颜料按照文艺复兴时期的习惯存放在小贝壳中。
技法探讨： 探索当时颜料的制作工艺及古代画笔的样式。
成品带回家： 完成的作品可作为独特纪念品带回家。
环保替代： 若参与者为素食者，可选择使用普通纸张代替羊皮纸。

Illuminating the Past: Renaissance Illuminated Letter Workshop

Workshop Overview:

Join us for a hands-on workshop where we’ll dive into the artistry of Renaissance illuminated manuscripts. The word “manuscript” originates from the Latin words “manus” (hand) and “scriptus” (writing), literally meaning “written by hand.” The term “illuminated manuscript” comes from the Latin word “illuminare” (to light up), referring to the rich decoration of these books, often featuring gold and silver leaf on ornate initial letters, text highlights, border designs, and illustrations. Traditionally, the pages were made from animal skins like calf, sheep, or goat.

The White Vine Style:

In this four-hour workshop, we will focus on creating a ‘white vine’ letter, also known as ‘Bianchi Girari’. This decorative style became popular among Florentine illuminators in the early 15th century. It features entangled white vines set against a colorful background, typically blue, with unpainted stems that reveal the natural parchment color. This style originated from Romanesque illuminated manuscripts (11th to 12th century), known for their floral motifs, and was commonly used to embellish classical and humanist texts rather than religious works.

Workshop Highlights:

Create Your Own Illuminated Letter: Transfer a letter design onto parchment, flat gild it with 23-carat gold leaf, and paint using seven Renaissance-inspired colors stored in small shells, just as they did in the past.
Learn Historical Techniques: Understand how pigments were made and see examples of period paintbrushes.
Take Home Your Masterpiece: Walk away with your own finished illuminated letter.
Vegan Alternative Available: Regular paper can be provided for those who prefer not to use parchment.
